I've had a look at the circuit diagram and it doesn't seem to me that there should be that many. Anyone know if this is normal or has someone been doing some knitting on mine.

TIA

Those single bullet connectors do look in the main to be 'of a genuine type' and the male connectors have factory-ish black heatshrink over the ends (although there's been some sculduggery involving insulting tape replacing missing silicony type covers but that's not surprising).
Some more cleaning reveals that the loom has a label '26001 1043 D' and checking the parts listing it should be a 26001-1038.
Hmm... wonder what a 26001-1043 is off. Anyone know?

So your starting some work on the bike you got from me, good stuff!
bedlow1 wrote:According to my manual "26001-1043 = wiring harness main" would be correct for a UK Bike
A 1038 would seem to be correct for a USA bike so maybe your getting your info from kawasaki.com!

Aha! I can see that mass of single bullets on the RHS of your second photo. So it merely looks like the routing of the cables is awry on mine.
Ta v.muchly for the photos - they'll help me put it back as Kawasaki intended.
