Hi guys, has anyone fitted z1/a/b side panels to a z1000 before? are the lugs any where near, or is a bit of fabricatiion required.
I like the shape of the earlier bodywork, and the paint schemes of the earlier bikes.
Oh sod it, heres what's happening, i have a z1000a2 thats smoking a lot, i knew the rings were suspect, but at the time had no choice but to put it together and go for it, it didnt work.
As i have a couple of spare motors, and dont want to mess around with the original engine, [i will re-ring this later with stock rings] i have decided to build a motor with a bigger displacement, cams, bigger carbs etc[ i have a set of 33 smoothbores i am dying to use], and i want to paint the caseings black like the z1.
Now then, here's my dilema, I'm not keen on z1000 original paint jobs, bit bland me thinks, z1b schemes are my favourite, as i owned a z1b model a few years ago, and loved the paint scheme, but these have silver motors not black, so i a have decided on a z1 scheme.
I also dont want to put the paint onto z1000 bodywork, as i have pic of a z1000 in a magazine with this done and it just doesn't look right to me, this is why i asked earler in this post, do the earlier panels fit easily or is a bit of work required required, thanks for any info, bye for now, tricky.
