Could somebody please tell me the correct length of the sidestand fitted to a GPZ1100 B2?

I'm trying to figure out if it's been replaced with a shorter one or the bracket that is welded to the frame is bent.

Cheers
Col.

Col, the sidestand is 29cm in length, when I was building my Zed I found that there are at least 2 different types of stand for these models. One looks like the stand type of stand with 1 spring, the one which fits mine has a 3 spring setup.

Thats the one I have on mine, the other type was not wide enough across the yoke to fit on the side stand lug.

These type of stands can go weak where the bracket joins frame as water can get into frame and rust from the inside f kept on sidestand or even tear the frame have a look underneath to see if any evidence of bending or tearing...Paul J..

Yep, that's the one I have. It measures 10 1/2" from pivot centre to the tip of the stand. I can't see any noticable signs of rot and it all seems to look okay. If you're stand is longer then it could be a case of finding the correct stand. It could probably do with being about 1 1/2" longer which would take it to about 300mm from the pivot centre to end.

Cheers for the help

KZCol the pictures above are of a 1981 J1.

It measures 11 inches near as dammit is to swearing from pivot hole centre to the tip of the foot.

The bike has standard geometry, standard size wheels/ tyres and standard length rear shocks.

The 'step' (mounting bracket) is virtually parallel to the ground when the bike is upright.
This bracket had 'peeled' away from the bottom of the frame where it's welded below when i got it and i welded it back into place in what i believed was the correct position.

Hope this helps
