Bought a complete set of locks off eBay for my ELR which turned up with no keys. Seller swears they were packed but no keys to be seen.

Is there anyway of getting new keys or are they scrap? Would be a shame as they are all immaculate.

There is usually a number on the barrel. this should tell you the key number, or at least be a code for the key number.
There is also a bike dealer who can make a key but you need to send him the lock, Sorry i cant remember who it is though someone will, i'm sure, be along soon and tell you.

There was a company called "Keys Galore"don`t know if they are still about?

Try Z-Power or/and Rick Brett if you can get a number off the barrel you might be lucky with a NOS key.

Thanks guys - sorry to be dumb but which number would it be? Is it the one that looks to be stamped next to the steering lock?

Googled Keys galore - half the locksmiths in the UK appear to be called keys galore! Will try Z power and Rick Brett though.

Agree...until they hit you with the postage! Minimum charge to the UK, even on very small items seems to $27.50...about 17 quid!

I will try these guys. I can always get small items shipped to a work colleague in SF and then sent through internal mail from the US to get past huge shipping costs. They will do it for small stuff but baulked at an exhaust system

I have bought two keys from Johnny's Vintage Motorcycle Company this year.
The criticism I have is that I got the impression the keys would be identical to those issued when the bike was brand new (Like the picture at the top of their web page) - ie with the plastic tops. Unfortunately they are not!
No response to my Email pointing this out.

However the keys supplied fit perfectly and arrived within a week.

I have bought keys from bernie at beezeee's in the past. The ones i got were blanks but looked exactly like the original ones. i just took it with my tatty old key to the key shop and had it cut, i know this is no help if you dont have a key but maybe he can supply them if he is given the number.

Z1RT311 You could get a blank from bernie and have it cut using one off yours.

Try your local locksmith if your not fussed about an original looking key.
Mine will cut to a number if you know it, and in the past where keys were lost just took the barrel in and he managed to make up a key. Years ago the key number was stamped for all to see near the slot where you put the key in. In later years it was hidden from view and stamped some where on the barrel

Thanks for all the help. Basildon locks were really helpful. Told me where the number would be, what format it is in etc. Just sent the number off to him and waiting for a quote.

They sent me a photo of another Kawasaki ignition switch so I could see what the number would look like and where to find it. Gives you a feeling of confidence.
