i am going to look a a z1000 which the owner described has a clicking sound from the engine and thinks its the "adjuster". new to the zed world so thought i'd ask here. is this likely to be a major/expensive fault??

Try pulling the clutch in once it`s running.

Also it could just be a loose tappet. Which is better than a tight one !

what will the clutch prove/happen ?

All z clutches are noisy.

Seriously though, maybe you could take someone along with you ?

could be the camchain adjuster . though ticking would prob indicate a valve shim adjustment. clutch's tend to rumble/rattle and the camchain is more off a rattle. if that makes sense.By pulling the clutch in, it loads it up and goes quiet and usually indicates the clutch centre bearing is the culprit but as most do it its nothing to worry about, and is easy to change if needed. like chris says maybe better to take someone with you. does'nt need to be a zed guy just a good motorcycle mechanic, preferably one used to older bikes.

The rumble can be caused buy a combination of play in the clutch shaft bearing and those pesky rivets holding the cage on.

Funnily enough the old late 70's big CB H****'s had the most problems, coz rather than just the inner clutch drum moving when disengaging the clutch, typical H**** decided to do it "their way" (song there somewhere?) and the whole clutch basket was pushed out

Saying that, a lot of the Jap big fours also rumbled

I sometimes get a Rumble sound from my Bottom End .........
Could it be a sign that my Crutch is Knackered .......
