O Rings.

#1 PostAuthor: Z1B Alan » Thu Nov 05, 2009 4:50 pm

Image

Just stripped my carbs ready for gingerbear to clean them and after removing the needle air jet, noticed that it has no o ring on it. In the above picture the needle jet on the right is from a set of z1r carbs and the one on the left is from my z1b carbs. Is this normal for there to be no o ring?. Also, under the main jet tube there was an o ring on the z1r carbs but again not on the z1b carbs. Again is this normal? Dont wish to appear a thick get, but im a little unsure as i expected there to be o rings on both items. Which is correct?

editted - both of those look different to mine - A1.

if there is a undercut bit in the needle next to the threade part, then there should be an o-ring.

doesn;t look like your needle has one,

nope. the main jet has a lipped seal not an o-ring.

the air screw should have an o-ring. they are easy to damage when fitting the screw - don't ask how I know that - and it helps to spit on them or dip some petrol as lubricant so they go in easier.

I asked about what size they are and nobody knew so I made my own from some 5 mm silicone aquairum air line - cut a length about 3 mm and job done.

the needles with the home made seal wobble about the same as the ones with o-rings, no drips of petrol and carbs run ok so I am guessing no air leaks.

if you struggle getting replacemnts, u2u me and I can pop some airline in the post to ya.

oh, I did get a carb rebuild kit so I could measure them up - there is someone - simplybearings? that sells o-rings so it may be worth somebody getting a 100 - nort more more than price for 10 and hand 'em out to club meembers. maybe I;ll do it if I can be arsed.....

There is no o-ring used on the air screw or under the bleed pipe that holds the main jet on z1b carbs, it's correct a it is in the photo
