Hello Guys,
I have been offered a complete GSXR 1100 front end for reasonable money. Its the USD version. Thinking maybe I could fit it to either my a1 or J1. Can anyone offer any sensible advice based on experience?
Would the fork legs need extended?
Thanks
Angeleddie

Angeleddie, You'll find it's all a load of greif, so don't bother. Don't bother sending 'em in Piggy's direction either....... Send 'em MY WAY
Only joking. I believe the early GSXR'S (oil cooled) have the longest Suzuki USD forks, I'm sure Piggy'll confirm this. Easiest/cheapest way as Piggy says is to use GSXR1100 yokes & change the stem. It may be possible to use the GSXR stem, but alter the bearings, these may help http://simplybearings.co.uk/shop/
You will find the forks are too short..... You may think, like I did that the nose down drag racer look would be cool. You will find it is far from practical. The side stand will be too long for one, then you'll have the worry of the mudguard hitting the exhaust
Don't be put off, I had some 50mm extensions made (£100 the pair) & managed to internally extend by another 40mm. I would think with GSXR1100 forks you could probably do it internally by about 40mm & that might be enough..
Have a look at my Z1000 Money Muncher thread. Feel free to PM me if you want & I'll go into more detail.

I think I have a set of unused fork extensions almost identical to GB's surplus to requirements - take £90 to recoup some costs from an aborted front end (due to disappearance of some parts and a supplier am going ZX9 RWU on that one now) if anyone's interested can post pics. The beauty about these ones is they exist and you can have them right away rather than phoning some machinist for months (or even years....)
