Just ordered a genuine kawasaki swingarm sleeve which should arrive soon. Will the old pivot bolt be ok to reuse or should i just replace with a new one ?
Thanks

Rob, so you have ordered new sleeves. You will probably find the sleeves have seized in the "bearing", which is usually phosphoor -bronze, but could be cast steel. When this happens the swing-arm pivot or axle acts as the sleeve bearing surface and the insde of the sleeve acts as the bearing... No good!
The pivot can be re-used, ensure the sleeves. the distance-piece, and the caps, sandwich tightly together, by means of the swing-arm pivot nut. It is only then that the sleeves can remain stationary and the swing-arm bearing can act as it should... as a bearing.
The length of the distance-peice (collar) is critical as it allows the sleeves to be sandwiched. Often this distance-piece gets damaged (shortened) during the removal process, it should be 141.5 mm in length, as mentioned in the part manual.

Thanks for the information.
In the end i ordered new pivot, nut, bearings and a new sleeve (nos) as i decided that the whole lot should be replaced for peice of mind.
When i picked the bike up it came with the two new "bearings" and two sleeve collors which do not fit the swing arm. I assume now that they are off a z900 and not the z1000a1.

Rob, advice I gave was for Z1 thru to Z900-A4, pretty sure Z1000A1 has needle roller bearings!

correct - according to Haynes, Z1000 has needle roller bearings.
