Hi all, have found out that cellulose thinners removes the old tank seal that was put into my A4 tank years ago in The USA,trouble is it will also probably remove the paint on the tank as well unless i am really carefull.Any ideas what i can use to cover the tank to protect it from spillage and fumes and what can i use to plug filler and fuel tap holes? Cheers Paul J..

PM your address and when I get home at the weekend I'll put you a couple of rubber bungs of the correct diameter in the post that you can borrow.

If it helps i believe acetone is the correct solution for breaking down tank sealer. :)

I have used swarfega metal cleaner in my tank. Available from B&Q for £5. Totally cleans all rust off the inside.
