Headlight and Indicators

#1 PostAuthor: StvnDevo » Wed Oct 21, 2009 9:02 am

Hi,
Just completing some cosmetic work to my Z1b (75). This included a new headlight as the old sealed one was discoloured.
Indicators work fine, headlight works fine (low and high beam). However, when the headlight is on the indicators light but do not flash. This is the same if the engine is running or not.
I also not that when the headlight is switched on the other lights (neutral light etc) dim.
Any ideas as to the cause of this? Could the battery be on its way out?

Headlight Problems

#3 PostAuthor: StvnDevo » Wed Oct 21, 2009 5:42 pm

Thanks for advise. Problem has now got worse.
Indicators work fin but as soon as I switch the headlight on the main fuse (20amp) blows.
Have disconnected headlight but the prblem still exists.
Although an american import the light switch is a european one (off/park/light). As soon as it is moved to park the fuse blows.
Starting to get stressed over this

There must be a short in there somewhere.

Before becoming too bad that your fuse blows there will be a heavy current draw. Perhaps now the insulation has melted making a dead short ?

Your right - as soon as i switch the light on the dash lights dim indicating a big current draw and then the fuse goes.
