All this year i have been plauged with problems with my Z to the point since the end of the southwest rally end of july ive hardly used it, right start it from cold no 2 and 4 always fire no 3 ocasionaly as well, to get no 1 and 3 to fire pull the plug caps off and let it run for at least 5 mins put the plug caps back on and most times 1 and 4 cut in, when they don't give it a couple handfulls of realy big revs and after it backfires and pops it runs on all 4, how ever today just couldnt get no 4 to fire.
When it does run on all 4 it runs better at high revs, what ever gear you are in hold it at 3,000 rpm and it splutters, anyone got any ideas please, ive tried everything i can think of, its got standard airbox jets etc.

with so many of us having a very similar problem , to me it sounds like that shite fuel all of the petrol companies are charging us so much for .

Could it be carb inlet rubbers are leaking, that causes bad running?

yes. I suspect the rubbers may have somethin to do with it.

Our Z1b would fire up from cold on 2n4 every time 2,3n4 most times 1 hardly ever. Then the same thing as yours mikey pop and fart onto all four as it warmed.but then run fine all day when warm.
I thought it had to be the choke/cold start circut so i set about it with carb cleaner and a very fine wire.No1 was blocked,3 dirty,2n4 ok.Starts and runs great now but I'm thinking of having them cleaned in a sonic bath over the winter. And I agree with the petrol comment have thought about a filter but It;ll look shite.

Here you go Mikey.....
http://www.z1enterprises.com/detail.aspx?ID=43
According to the on-site currency converter a set of 4 will cost £50 + postage, which won't be much. Will probably work out cheaper than Z-Power & you get loads more in the kit!!
