You cannot unscrew the shock mounts they are welded.
Other questions a I am sure someone will help with.

It looks to me like the bulb holder is peened over when the assembly is formed and therefor cannot be seperated.
Seeing as the backing is chrome, the reflector is BZP and the holder is gold passivate you will have quite a job there !
The rest of the world long guard uses a different lamp bracket to the US shorty.

Hi RGH, Why do you want to remove the top shock mounting!!. If it's because they/it has been damaged, then you've got a bit of a job on your hands. It can be done but you really need to know what your doing. The best bet would be to give it to a frame repairer.
As far as I know all the long gaurds are the same british/ european, the short gaurds are american, as taillift say's the light unit brackets are diffrent. It would be easier getting another light unit rather than trying to repair the old one.

The long rear mudguards on the A4 and the A1 are the same item, the Z1 guards are different.

On that tail-light problem, I've toyed with the idea of cutting out the bulb holder with the rubber mounting and doing the the same with another rusted unit, only with a larger diameter cut-out. Then after re-chroming the bezel ring, pop-riveting the other shock-mounted bulb-holder on.... Decided to watch e-bay, as an easier solution!
