Fork upgrade??

Well it's time to buy the shock's for my renovation ('78 KZ1000 A2) now I have allways intended to use Ohlin's rear shock's but looking about at other renovation/upgrades it appears in my inexperiance at this sort of thing that I omitted to take into account the 'handle-abiliy' of the rest of the bike when making this choice

. I have regretably,in retrospect, not strengthen'd my frame and am using the standard front end so my question is; is it still worth the 400 quid i'll be spending on the Ohlin's,ie will I still get the benefit of the Ohlin's with a 'bendy' frame? and if so it will presumably be benneficial to 'upgrade' the fork's and for this I suppose i'll be using progressive spring's? but what about the grade of oil and do I also need to replace the damper rods, if so what with????
Thank's for any imput guy's!!

The 1000A2 isn't quite as "bendy" as the early ones and progressive springs will help the forks with a decent oil. You'll get benefit from the shocks okay. You could obviously go a lot further but on a standardish set-up this won't be too bad.

Ohlins are money well spent if you intend to keep em/bike for some time, or at least clock up a few miles. You may be able to get some 2nd hand, which will save ?????'s and if necessary they are fully rebuildable.
Like any set up, the WHOLE caboodle needs doing to get max benefit, and any old Zed aint the bike for that. BUT, they look COOOOOOOL

The guys are right, ohlins are the way to go. after you fit them you will not notice the rear end, (as it should be ) they will do the job spot on. set them to the middle and forget about them

Ohlins are the best shocks you can get and in my opinion are worth the money.
Z-POWER sell 'em and you should get club discount as well.Speak to Phil and see what they can do.
