I have a GPZ 550 rectifier/regulator unit
Image

it has 6 wires - just really need confirmation that nothing will go pop when I fit it :o - the brown wire from the regulator in KZ100 wiring diagram (European models) puzzles me ....

regulator wires
3 yellow - these are the ones to the 3 phase generator (connect to pink/blue/yellow)
black - 0 V (connects to black or yellow/black)
red/white - to positive of battery (this connect to white)
brown - switched 12 V? - connect to brown?

is that correct?

the brown wire on the GPZ550 wiring diagram does something similar to the Z1000 brwon wire in that it goes to the intstrument bulbs and the ignition switch .... 's gotta be the same ...

oh, I don't suppose anyone knows where I can buy the 6 way rectangular connector that fits onto the end of thr regulator?

I need one with 6 male spades.

strangely enough I have 2 of these reulators - one has male and other female connector so possibly could remove one but I doubt I will be able to re-use the metal connectors as they are crimped well and truly on.

OK, not at home so can't check my diagrams but the brown wire provides the voltage sensor for the regulator, when the system voltage is at the correct, the regulator shorts to earth, when the system is demanding more power it feeds into the electrics eg battery charging , lights on etc.

And yes brown wires are the common colour for this connection on latwer Kawasakis......
