couldn't get any gears today, adjusted the clutch cable almost to it's limit, and played with the adjuster. drop her in 1st and she crunches and stalls badly,. i had the casing off last week cleaning the mechanism behind it, also took the push rod out, i'm now wondering if the small ball bearing at the clutch end of the rod might of rolled out without me knowing, could this be possible and if so would this be the cause, or do you reckon it needs a new cable? cheers dek, love the site. :??

Have you adjusted the 'push rod' mechanism, in the L/H casing :?:

if you mean the lock nut and adjuster screw , yes, not sure of any other adjuster other than the cable though. could the ball bearing roll out on the side stand do you think? thanks..

Is the bit the cable attaches to behind the casing at the right angle , if you had it apart maybe it didn't go back the same way . If it is a J engine the adjuster srew is turned the opposite way to a 900 /1000 engine .

Pretty sure (90%) the bearing can NOT roll out the L/H side - via the push rod passage :?: :!:

well 90%, that's good enough thanks, looks like a new cable then, anyway, do you think Z, power will stock them, she's got the high bars?..

Did you have clutch engagement problems before you removed the cover to clean ? if not, don't buy a new cable until you have checked the rotating lifter mechanism in the back of the cover. I'm pretty sure I found it was possible to assemble it back wrong, with the arm in the wrong position....end result, clutch doesn't work.

Can't be 100% sure about this ( have memory problems ) , but I really would remove the cover and think through which way the ramp mechanism works, then see if its in the right place. The correct position is shown in the Kawa manual I think..

Hope it helps

am pretty sure that the ball bearing can fall out the rod hole,it did on my r reg z1b.but that might have been a one off. :?? you might have to check that the clutch pressure plate ant broke.

that sounds like bad news, if i put another bearing in there and the original one is still in , i'm not sure what to do now, i might take a look on the clutch side......or just take a chance, roll a new one in and hope for the best, thanks for all the advice.

There should be enuff adjustment in the grub screw & lock nut to screw it in & feel resistance. If it don't reach the pushrod, the bearing may well be awol

Hope you're not a betting man (90% :?? )..... perhaps I'm getting it muddled with me old Gixxer.... or DR :?:
