Carbs!

#1 PostAuthor: Z1000ELR » Mon Jul 06, 2009 6:57 am

Hi,
My Z1000 doesnt have the original carbs. The ones fitted have an adjustment under the main body in front of the bowl & an air screw on the side. The bike is fitted with pod filters & 4-1, Jets are 117 at the moment & the needle is on the middle setting.
We are having problems getting the carbs set up, can anybody help with settings please??

Thanks
Si

sound like Z1R carbs if they're not CVs. i'll let someone else advise on jetting for the pods. but standard they were 107.5 main jets

Chris,
We have upped the jets to 117 do you think thats too big?
Its more the screw settings im after. You can just make out the screw under the body, that and the air screw.

1/ give them a good clean externally with cellulose thinners. It will get the crap off.

2/ set fuel heights. It looks like one of them (at least) is flooding.

Are they 28s? The only ones I have seen with both sets of screws were 26s.
Start at 1 1/4 turns out for both screws. should run at 117 main jets but take it down the dyno and have it set up there.
