Hi
been busy with my Z1000. Ordered up some 120 and 125 main jets and set the carbs as follows:
17.5 pilots up from 15's.
Air screw 1.5 turns out
mains now 120's
Needle on middle clip.
Dyna Ignition
Engine is and 1105 with gas flowed head and a Harris pipe. Currently on 26mm carbs, but the 28's are now in the plan....
Bike now starts easily on choke, where is wouldn't tolerate choke before. Idles cleanly and smoothly.
It misses if the choke is off until its fully warm, say 2-3 miles but after that it's sweet as a nut. Pulls wide throttle from 2-3000rpm with out pinking and revs cleanly.
I reckon it may take the 125's. I will check the plug colour tomorrow but deffo a happy bunny. Plan is to ride it to Uttoxetor next weekend. Camping there for the weekend with a couple of mates and have a jar or three.
Is anyone else from here going.....would be cool to meet up...if my hangover allows..

Hi
I wil ldeffo look for you. I'll be with a couple of mates, one on and LC special the other on a much modified Z1000...I rebuilt it last year and you will spot it.
Lime green with a hornet on the tank, it was built by a mate in 1992, he was sadly killed int eh southern 100 in 2003. It got a ground up rebuild but the plan was always to make it look as it was originally built, ie a tool to be used so it;s not polished, everything is satin powder.
Spec is:
1105
Gas flowed, big valve head
33mm Mikuni's
Hassis F1 pipe
Z9A4 frame fully braced
JMC swinger
Modded forks
3 spoke race wheels
Lockheed race brakes on GSX discs
It goes like stink for and old Zed
Owner is Bri, ex-pat now living in Oz.
I'll be arriving friday night and heading for a beer ASAP.
Are you in the show or in the campsite. Sorry don't know the other guys, new to the forum although had my Z1000 12 years.

iam glad your bike now fixed iam running z1r carbs on my z900a4 with 150 main jets that i drilled out some 130 jets that i had used a 1.5 mm drill bit =150 jet set on third clip runs very well so when you fit the 28mm carbs you have you could give it a try and see how it runs

Hi
PLan is to run the bike for a while with teh 26's and then have another go at the 28's. I wil try the 125 mains first, see how it runs and what the plug colour is and then up them or not as necessary.
Going on carb bore area alone it'd need 140's but you never know coz they are all different. Mine has a Harris pipe and 1105 kit....it is planty quick enough at the moment but ..you know how it is...enough is never enough..

You gotta be kidding - right
A 130 main jet refers to the flow of fuel... not diameter of the hole
Surprised it runs at all.... must be doing 9mpg
