I purchased some Dyna coils (3 ohm, Green) for a Z1B about 6 months ago. I have only recently fitted them and only travelled about 50 miles.
Strange thing.... my left hand side coil only works from one outlet, meaning I only have spark on 3 cylinders.
The HT outlet is in the form of a "spout". At first I thought it was the lead, so, I have tried various leads in this outlet and all have not rendered a spark at the plug.
There must be a way of electrically measuring the two coils to confirm that one of the coil's HT outlets is faulty. I thought it was just a single coil with two outlets. Any ideas.

Thanks guys.
I am checking.... unfortunately my meter is telling me it need a new meter battery.
Sparkplug works on other 3 and it's an Densor
The specs for the coils (thanks Zorded)
DC1-1 Primary resistance 2.9 ~ 3.2 Ohms.
Secondary resistance 13.5 K ~ 14.5 K ohms.
This seems to check out.
However, on my suspect coil I'm getting a reading between secondary and primary screws of 9.6 k Ohms.
This is the same on both outlets on that coil.
So why would I get spark on one and not the other?
I'm beginning to think that, maybe, I got confused with leads and had no sparks on both 2 & 3.
I will check it again. because if this is the case, this coil is obviously defective.
Pigford, in my case, leads & caps other than those connectors don't seem to bother spark.

Thought the suspect coil was Ok... However, the LHS coil failed under load.
Ever tried to go up a 45 degree driveway on two cylinders. My mate tried!
This LHS Dyna coil is RS! I did think these Dyna coils were the ultimate coil set!
I will be contacting the supplier and ask what he wants me to Do! I am a little pissed off.

HI Garn, one thing to check is the voltage at the coils. Anything less than 11v is a problem. I've seen as little as 8v-9v at the coils - and that is woefully low to get a spark...
www.wgcarbs.com has a tech article on a coil relay fix.

Thanks for the replies.
Voltage at coils is 100%. I have this great "WG relay" mod fitted on 3 of my bikes.
I now have both Dyna coils off and will continue testing. I think the problem may be this resistance I'm picking up between the Secondary and the primary. Its very hard to get a good reading. especially as longer prongs are needed to get to the secondary contacts!
