throttle rattle

guys, should there be a nylon sleeve between the switch block and the throttle? there is a lot of movement and it was mentioned by the mot tester today.

No I'm pretty sure there isn't, if you've got standard grips on and they are pushed all the way on they should help, other than that the play is governed by fit of the twistgrip in the channel of the switch block. Maybe your tester is too familiar with modern bikes

MikeZ1A, there isn't a sleeve, however, originally there was a washer (nylon or teflon) between the throttle grip and the RHS switch block. They were usually discarded with the first change of grips or cables.
New handlebars are often a bit longer and to get the throttle grip closer to the switch block, the grip-end often touches the end of the handle bars. This may cause friction/drag. As Steven says "the play is governed by fit of the twistgrip in the channel of the switch block".

I remember that washer as well, but it is not shown in the Kawasaki diagrams

Hi Mick , when i got mine someone had already used an handlebar grip flanged end as a spacer they had just cut this end off and put a slot in it and slipped it over , does the job .
but the foam type grips with the chrome ends you buy in the motorbike shops come with a spacer , exspensive spacer hence why i have stayed with what mine came with.

yes, you see i remember some sort of plastic/nylon washer myself, but as with everything else from the past, I'm not sure which bike. i will manufacture something myself then, thanks guys. blimey, i used to be mister improvisation, now Ive become mister buy it over the counter, i guess its like everything else, time or money. THIS SITE IS GREAT, i love you guys, just not in a sexual sense you understand
