Plan currently is to ride it as is over the summer and then maybe I'll look at work I can do over the Winter.

I love the way it looks at the moment to be honest but if I need to replace stuff I think I'll try and restore the originally of the bike as much as poss.

The forks are bugging me. Why if they are original would they have been turned round  I had a quick look at them tonight and can't see any reason why they couldn't be swapped back.

From the z1000 a2 the calipers were moved to the back, supposedly to reduce the stearing momentum or some such.

Lots of people swapped the earlier ones as this looked more modern!
As far as I know its simply a matter of swapping the forks round to move them back to the front, eay job and no money involved!!

My Z1A has Z1000 a2 forks on with the calipers at the front.

There is an issue regarding the positioning of calipers due to unsprung weight and steering axis.

Personally I prefer to keep things as intended.

Your forks are definately turned. The drain screws are supposed to be at the lowest point.

Ah, I see. looking at the frame and engine number mine is an def' an A1. So someone has probably swapped them round. This could be my first project before spring ;)

Swapping the forks is easy, you will probably need to loosen the banjos to adjust the brake hoses and that means you will have to bleed the brakes.
Since its a new bike to oyu its probably a good idea to change the fluid any way, but be warned they can be a bitch and a half to bleed, search the site for tips. I use 2 of those little tubes with a one way valve on from Halfords, but its still a nightmare getting all the air out.
If you are going to look for a standard master cylinder then be aware that there are different types for twin and sinfle discs and they look very similar but the bore size is different.
