Noel, a lot of the kraut ebayers don't use paypal at all. Not unusual in Germany. The favoured payment type for them is bank transfer. Not just for ebay purchases but for most thinigs bought over a distance. I wouldn't be too concerned about him not having a paypal account(any other country yes but not Germany). I think ebay are taking steps at the moment to force ALL ebay sellers to offer paypal as a payment option so this might change in the near future.
