the problem with the oil supply was the nylon drive gear that drives the oil pump. it was prone to failing the steel shaft which is bonded to the gear would shear & therefore not turn the metal gear on the oil pump & then damage would occur in the cylinder head plain bearings & camshaft. if you do intend buying this bike this is the first thing i would replace

I bought mine with 3,600 miles on it at 7 months old and did another 14k on it in a year. To be fair it looked good for a 4 stroke 250 and was quite nippy (once saw an indicated 95) and it got ridden hard but reliability was questionable!!!! By the time I shifted on to a mate (who knew what was wrong with it) for £150 it had just got through it's third head/camshaft and was rattling away again. Other issues were silencers rotted out in 12 months, rear shocks pissed oil out (replaced with girlings), seat cover split and paint wore through on tank where your knees rubbed. Wished I bought an RD or X7

Most did
Including Me!. 1st August 78 I px'd my beloved Fizzie for a brand spanker T-reg RD250.
During the first six months the rear shock mount snapped off the swinger due to shite welding. The clutch mechanism failed twice. The left hand cylinder seized twice resulting in a re-bore. Throttle cables snapped whenever there was a day in the month and it ate spark plugs on a weekly basis. The brakes were complete shite although this didn't matter too much as the standard ditchfinder Yoko's meant you couldn't go more than 20mph in the rain anyway.
Then when it was eight months old the right hand cylinder seized but wasn't covered as you only got a six month warranty on a new oil burner back then.
Still loved it though.
