If you repeat something enough, it becomes truth.

hutch is god, hutch is god, hutch is god

oooooooh who pulled your plonker no hutch is not god but a very good painter I gave RS paints a new tank and they got the mix wrong whats wrong in telling someone that hutch got it right for keith z1r check it out if you've been shot down if flames with rs paints tough

just tired of the same old mantra's trotted out on every thread here.
You could fill a couple of pages just cutting and pasting previous comments from every other thread regarding paint. It's just the herd-mentality in full effect.

Fact is, ANYONE who is decent with a spray gun can spray a tank one colour and fix some decals on it. And any decent spray shop can match a colour pretty closely if you have a good sample to start off with.
- Obviously a paint supplier is going to have far more resources at there disposal than a single paint shop - who will have to do what they can with the materials they have at hand = that is a fact. Therefore, the best route is to send your sample to a spray supplier rather than the sprayer on your industrial estate.
Personally I don't subscribe to the universal belief held here that Hutch is the only person who can spray Z's and I don't think I have ever hidden that.

a good painter will require a good colour match from an original part that has not seen the lite of day. & will also do there best to match what you supply. but there are that many variations even from the manufacturer that it would be impossible to satisfy every customer. a good painter will tint the paint to the best of his ability to satisfy the customer but it is the customers opinion that gets the painter his appraisal

I think if you are having a custom paint job - find someone who does the kind of work you like to the standard you hope for.

If you want the paintwork of your classic done and it's a complicated process, like the early Z's are, look for someone with experience of doing that and who produces good work / OR someone who is skilful enough and cares enough to do it justice and get it exactly right - otherwise buy a ready painted set - they look exactly correct to me.

If you have a one colour tank with decals - Why the feck would you waste your time sending it to any of the above??? give it to the best sprayer you can find in your home town with some paint either from RS paint or matched from that sample you are keeping in your UV proof bunker.

Restauration of my black widow

#20 PostAuthor: Peter K. » Fri Dec 19, 2014 9:04 pm

Black widow

Image

Well here is the story about it

Middle of this year I found a Z1R with Z1000S lables. It has 34.000 km on the clock and is in a perfect condition except the painting.

The goal is, to put a 4-4 on it as it was offered in old times here in Germany. It already has the correct large tank on it. This one was mde by Didier Kaluza in France but it has the small tank only.

A friend of mine gave me an original tank out of his collection which includes also repainted parts

KAS RACEPAINT in Kettering are very very good.
The owner is Paul and he is incredibly good at 1970s Kawasaki stuff because he has done it for 20 years. He painted one of my triples and it was fantastic. He matched the paint exactly to a panel that I gave him and was reasonable on cost.

im glad people in this village dont see things the way malmajoe does, ive been called back year after year to do new roofs, walls, patio's, extensions, painting, carpentry etc, i gather its because they like my work, i hope the dont start seeing it as a mantra, hopefully they will carry on seeing it as my being good at my job.
