they are complety different carb bodies but will fit straight on,

check your pilot jet size, most kits come with a 20 and a 17.5, they are set to run with either the 2.5 or 1.5mm slide cutaway respectivley. It sounds like your on early carbs which will be the 2.5 cut away in which case 20s should be fitted. the jets are quite different and would probably have a negative effect if matched to the wrong slide, after 4000 rpm the problem would dissapear once youve gone on to main jets, but could run like a pig at low rpms
