New lever, as it is without the sleeve, is thinner than the original broken lever by the thickness of the sleeve. Petrol does probably get down the gap caused by the absence of this sleeve.
Basically this new tap is no good without a sleeve.

Sorry a bit late to this discussion. I certainly second the replacement seals from americanclassixs, the ones from German supplier were shite.
