Assuming that the soda blasting process turns out to be effective , it should be possible to use the same method using one of the hobby type bead blast cabinets using soda crystals instead of the glass beads ?
Taking things a step further , how about constructing a DIY soda /vapour blast / pressure wash blast cabinet using an old pressure washer that pumps a suitable soda solution ?
Does anyone out there know if this has already been tried or done ?
I can't be the only idiot out here , there has to be at least one more daft enough to have already tried this

thinking of using Bicarbonate of soda as per soda blasting process, definatly not caustic soda.
have used caustic soda several times over the years to de coke the pipes on my H2 and I know what it can do to aluminium.
Even caustic soda takes a while to disolve alloy , I was thinking more along the lines of blasting or pressure washing with bi carbonate of soda then neutralizing the soda solution via the diet coke method .
