You just need a degree wheel - or you can do it using the Advancer Timing Marks in the inside of the casing........ ASSUMING DYNA S IS ALL FITTED & WIRED IN:

Just set the engine to the full advanced marks (about 35 deg BTDC) using the visual marks on the sprung Advance unit. Whack a couple of sparkplugs in the the 2 x HT caps nearest you #3 & #4 and make sure they're grounded on the head.

Now switch ignition on & twist the Trigger Sprung Advance mechanism by hand fully clockwise (push against the springs) and watch for the spark which should coincide with the unit reaching Max Advance :!:

Simples :??
And on the 7th day... Zeds were created!

Am i missing something here :??

Just fitted and wired in the Dyna S as per instructions........started her up and runs perfectly. Surely not that simple !
So i connected the strobe light to set timing dynamically held rpm at around 2500 and watched for the full advance marks to line up.......which they did
I have not adjusted anything.......is this wrong ?

Yes! it is that simple and yes! you got lucky with the timing plate being in the correct position from the get go.

Great result.........so easy to fit and she purrs from cold at 1000 rpm. Picks up better at any speed.
Thanks for all the advice...................see some of you at the Big Breakfast.

As long as you don't get hit for VAT, import duty and a UPS handling fee... Fingers crossed
