HENRY ABE piston kit

#1 PostAuthor: RGH » Thu Jul 16, 2009 12:40 pm

still gathering parts for my A4 resto, came across this Henry Abe Kit forgot I had -and some other goodies found as well
has anyone ever used one of these? as it runs 1(one) compression ring only
my other concerns are the pistons seem slightly heavier than standard Zed and Pops Yoshi pistons I have- maybe about 25grams heavier also would gaskets still be OK after all these years - cannot find date on box/packing

pistons stamped-- 69.25 with arrow

ring box stamped-- HA 69.25 STD

gasket set box stamped--Z1 1100cc BBK-007

any info as usually greatly acepted Hench

Can't say as I've ever heard of that make before

The piston size actually works out at 248.69cc per cylinder, so a 995cc kit overall.
They also look like they've got a very high CR to me, I'd say they were around 13:1, and as they only have one compression ring, for race use only.

Personally I wouldn't fit them and would sell them on.
I'd fit either Wiseco or MTC.

Henry Abe were based here in Aichi, Japan and now trade under the name Daytona, they manufacture steering dampers etc. A friend of mine used one of these kits around 1983, the bike went like the clappers. I can't speak for the longevity of the kit because not long after the rebuild my friend managed to run into a train.
Surprisingly he survived with no more than a broken femur and a torn ball sack from same femor exiting inner thigh.

Thanks for the info Will, will (heehee) fleabay HA kit as I need to clear out Zedshed to make some room (hopefully for an original/untouched Katana 1100) have some Z650 stuff to go as well. Checked A4 bores, today should get away with light hone and re-ring there Pops Yoshi pistons hopefully can still get ring set to suit'

Henry Abe were huge with hot up goodie/accessaries in the 70's/80's made 4-1's, mag wheels allsorts, few years back sold set HA mags suit a early Gold Wing

Unpacked another box today found these (new unopened) been hording but lost interest building a ZED chopper so will fleabay as well.
