1978 Z1000 Ltd

#1 PostAuthor: BustedKnuckle » Mon Jun 08, 2009 10:17 pm

I am in the middle of a rebuild of a Z1000 Ltd. It had been done previously and very badly so I am trying to put stuff right as I go. This means that there are several 'suspicious' parts and a wiring loom like a snake's wedding.

There is no chain guard and I am looking for one but I have a question.

I have seen several chrome ones with two bolt holes on the rear and one on the front brackets and yet I have only one hole each side. Can anyone enlighten me as to what is right, wrong and what will fit?

There are three holes in an LTD's chain guard....2 near the bottom of the shock mount, one on either side if memory serves me, and one forward of those about 8" from the shock mount.

Follow this link, scroll down the list and click on item 36, seat/chain cover and a schematic should open showing what yours looks like...they are the same for the LTD B1('77) and B2('78).

What you're describing would seem to be the swinger from an A1 or an A2, though someone may have hacked the other one off the LTD swinger. Hope this helps.
