Hello everyone, yes I'm one of those "flamin' newbies"! My name is Gordon & I live up in beautiful Northumberland, not far from Kielder and some of the best biking roads in the country, there, that'll fire up a debate!!
I'm not new to zeds, passed my test on a Z250, and have had two 650's, an F model and an SR in the past as well as a Z550, a Z750L3 and a Z1000J1. Currently I own an American import '78 SR650.
What I'd like advice on is this, I've been told it's possible to shoehorn a Z900 engine into a Z650 frame. Now this really appeals to me as a slightly "off the wall" special. Has anyone done this? If so, any technical advice would be gratefully received. I am a passable amateur mechanic, restoring and rebuilding bikes as a hobby and for therapy following a couple of nervous breakdowns.
Thanks and looking forward to hearing from you.
Gordon

Z900/650 Cafe Racer
Hi all, thanks for the warm welcome. I looked at that link to the Z900 engined cafe racer, that is one of the best bikes I've ever seen. Now I know it can be done I'll have to start listening to the voices in my head!!
Hope you'll be able to offer some advice when the time comes for the daft questions.
Cheers all.
Gordon.
