electronic ignition advice
I am looking to getting a dyna s ignition for my standard z900A4, z1 enterprises do two types, one which is programable, also would i need their 3.0 ohm coils, your advice would be really appreciated, cheers.

Hello Derek, If you use the Dyna S (this has adjustable static timing) you can use the DC1-1 3ohm coils, If You use the Dyna 2000 you can also use the 3 ohm coils but a better choice would be the DC4-1 2.2 ohm coils, the Dyna S is a little more robust than the Dyna 2000 and although the Dyna 2000 does also feature a built in rev limiter I would go for the Dyna S and add the DRL300 rev limiter, this keep s the wiring simple, with less possibilty of electrical problems later, the Dyna S and DRL300 rev limiter also cost less than the Dyna 2000. When fittting the Dyna coils fit the plastic coil spacers rather than the original type as these are prone to arcing from the terminals to the spacer. Regards, Steve
Recently fitted Dyna S to my Z1B. Piece of cake to fit and makes idling so much smoother- thoroughly recommended. Runs perfectly well with stock 3 ohm coils. I also fitted new advancer cos mine was older type from Z1, might be worth considering as they can wear in 30 years running. Advantage of Dyna 2000 is mechanical advancer is removed and advance/retard is controlled digitally.
I preffered Dyna S for its simplicity/robustness and its significantly cheaper than the 2000.

The dyna 2000 also has a revcounter output.
The brass sleeves on the mounting bolts also act to dissapate heat, you would be better to leave the brass ones on to act as a heat sink for the core and if you do get arcing sleeve them with a piece of plastic tube. It is only low voltage as long as they are clean they usually don't give any problems
