Drive sprocket

#1 PostAuthor: irhobotolo » Fri May 15, 2009 8:32 pm

This may seem like a silly question to some. I am trying to get the gearbox final drive sprocket off my ZR1100 (zephyr). Is it a clockwise or anticlockwise turn to remove the nut. IE: is it a normal or reverse thread ?
I need to make sure that i am turning the right way as it is incredibly tight.
The tab washer behind the nut is flat.

I am convinced that Geoff Capes fitted it with an eight foot long piece of scaffold pole on the end of his spanner as part of the "words strongest man competition 1998".

Try and find someone with an air impact gun. I had this problem once, got fitter at work to loosen it then i tighten'd it up again by hand, but not too tight till i rode it home, Then it came off ok. Or maybe try bike shop, even if you need to give them £5 or so to loosen it.

Good luck,
peter
