Thanks guys,
Hero of the hour is without a doubt Dave at Z Power for letting me have a new German spec bottom yoke for ?65. Bonus is that the new one has the tapped boss for the steering damper.
So has any one fitted a steering damper is it a good idea? Bearing in mind I have already fitted progressive fork springs, Z1000 a2 forks, taper bearings, braced the frame, new shocks and Dresda Box section swing arm?

Steve, on a "lighter" note. The headstock (lower triple tree) that has the 8mm hole tapped for the damper, is probably on the LHS (When seated on the machine). Does it also have a hole on the RHS (not tapped for the original damper).
What I'm thinking is, that you have an early triple tree from a Z1, which was carried over from the H2. It does not matter as they are common from '72 - '78. It's just interesting that it was called a German Spec' yoke. This is a subject in its own right.

Ps. Thanks for cooling me down!

Garn, tapped hole is on right as you are on Bike, and the bracket on the frame is on the right as well so I assume damper goes between them. Dave told me it was German spec and that is to do with the position of the steering lock. The stem had a slot in it inside the headstock so presumably the lock sat on the side of the headstock and slid a tang into the slot..
Regards cooling down no worries eh?
