steering damper

Looking through the box of bit,s i had with the bike i found a steering damper for the bike on one end is a bent bracket that look,s like it fits under by the tank on a bracket that the reflector fit,s, on if so whare does the other end fit? it has a bolt through a round thing on the end,
any advice would help me.

Z1 models have a threaded hole on the bottom yoke.

Outlaw, I don't think you will find a suitable hole on the Z1000 ST triple-tree bottom. The last model to get that hole, drilled in a boss, was the Z1B.
The Z900, Z1000's did not have provision for these dampers. However, they can be drilled 8 mm clearance and a suitable shaped washer /bolt be made to lock the damper in. I say suitable shape, because there is a web underneath the position for the damper hole.

Although, TailiftChris says they have a threaded hole, he is not quite right. The Z1 series have a hole drilled in a boss. Some very early models also have that threaded hole, he mentioned. I believe this was from the earlier H2 LHS damper. I have never had a full answer as to "Why the LHS threaded hole?" Some say it was for a blinker cancelling mechanism.

PS. You will see many of the brackets on the RHS engine frame of the Z1 series, broken off. This was often caused by the damper seizing and braking the bracket and sometimes damaging the head fins.
