I've seen those marketed as a frame brace here in Japan. I can only remember seeing them on GPZ's.

Much too far in for an engine guard.
If you want to brace it there why not replace the rubber mounts with alloy blocks, mount the engine and ream the mounting holes for oversize engine bolts.

Good point but you know what? that doesn't have the same bling appeal and the Jays just love to bling up their bikes. :D
