Manual Cam Chain tensioner

#1 PostAuthor: bigmac103 » Tue Jan 13, 2009 5:02 pm

Has anyone got any advice about fitting a Manual Cam chain tensioner to a Z900A4 standard engine? What can happen if it's done up too tight?

As usual your advice greatly appreciated.

Bottom idler rubber wheel gets cut up a bit, especially with Liska gears, only do it up finger tight and then back it off 1/4 turn.

wind the tensioner in by hand untill you feel resistance, then slowly turn the engine over by hand and wind the tensioner in at the same time untill you cannot move it in any more by hand( not a spanner) then lock it up

Rotate the engine forwards gently for a couple of revolutions, with the plugs out, using a spanner/socket on the 17mm adv/ret nut so that the slack is generated at the tensioner while doing the tensioner up with your fingers. Then stop and back the tensioner bolt off 1/4 turn and lock it off. Do not rotate engine using kickstart lever.
