Brake calipers
I used a sandblaster to clean the paint on my calipers after first fitting a knackered piston and seals whilst also masking the piston. I used an old brake pipe and bleed nipple to cover the vital orifices. Sandblasting is fast and thorough, but you must ensure they are ultra clean afterwards. For the paint finish I used PJ1 porcelain hard black which ends up a nice egg shell finish. As for longevity only time will tell. Stone chips are very unforgiving !

Restorers have been debating for years what the black finish is on Japenese master cylinders, switch gear and brake unions. I had a bunch of parts black anodised a year ago and I cannot find any difference in the finish between what I had done and the NOS parts I have. For me it is simply black anodise. You will notice it that anodise fades as dose alumite. go figure

Regarding the foam rubber gaskets.
I popped in to a local firm today and they very kindly looked at the foam on an old bracket and pronounced it as Toshiba in 5mm.
Thay had some 10mm so put it through a machine that split it in half. I therefore have about 2 square metres of the correct foam.
Price for this ? ZERO, ZILCH, GRATIS !
Trouble is cutting it !
Would anyone have a template that I can use ?
