I've found that these brakes to be something of a pain in the arse to bleed. I use a vacuum pump system and find it pays to drag a lot of fluid through. When it's starting to feel OK I then tie lever to the bar with a cable tie over night. I've always found with Zed brakes that it takes ages to get the last bit of air out, but patience is always the best policy. If you use a vacuum system, which I have always found the best, always put plenty of PTFE tape around the bleed nipple.
I am using Armstrong Racing pads I got off e-bay and my front brakes are pretty hot - enough to make the front tyre squeak, even in the dry :-)
