ENGINE PAINT - temperature ratings

#1 PostAuthor: MaineKZ » Tue Aug 05, 2008 9:36 pm

And tonight's star question is:

What temperature rating should I aim for if I were painting the clutch and generator covers - not on a Zed of course - that would be plain silly!

It's a little 125 aircooled single I'm refurbing for dah misses to learn on.

I'm not painting the real hot stuff - barrels/head - so don't need the full-on high temp stuff, so I'm wondering would a 120 degree C rated paint be OK?

Black paint dissipates heat the best and you can get Sperex VHT or PJ1 exhaust paint.
It's rated upto 1200 degrees C I think.

PJ1 Fast Black will do it no problem, Hycote engine enamel is also good if you can find it

Do you know what other colours are available in the PJ1 range ??
Or do you have a link to the Halfords site regarding PJ1 paint ?
cheers
