fractures in the rear sprocket carrier?

#1 PostAuthor: 02GF74 » Wed Jul 02, 2008 9:34 am

ok, dunno what the official name for this part it but it the part that the rear sprocket bolts on to.

Inside are alloy blocks that intermate with the cush rubbers.

I cleaned mine up and noticed small hairline fractures by the blocks near the centre, nothing major to worry about but I guess this is a common problem?

someting to watch in the future I guess.

I call that part a sprocket carrier or hub carrier. I have not noticed any cracks in my 1000a2 carrier.

Are they really cracks or just casting marks?

If they are cracks I'd be inclined to get someone with an AC/DC TIG to blow some sparks into it. I can't help, I've only got a DC, but the fancy one is on my Christmas list :D ... has been for a while
