front tyre?

at the mo' got:

front: Metzler ME33 laser 100/90 R 19
rear: Pirelli oooh, I spelt it right ... MAtch (WTF?) 120/90 V 18

looking to replace the front.

now the model of tyre may not be current and obvioulsy want something grippy and hardwearing, mutaully exclusive I know.

Do I look for a pirelli so that it is of same make and maybe model as rear or something else?

.... and anywhere on web for good prices (i.e. cheap) (bought MCN but that was a waste of £ 1.90 as there are no tyre adverts whatsover. how things changed since the last century).

(oh, the bike is z1000 A1 not some mx moto cross thingy that use same size front tyre ... but you probably guess that )

Would be nice to have a matching pair (oooooh errrrr missus) but most on here go for the Bridgestone BT45, not too dissimilar to that used on Rossi's bike

It's always best to fit a matching set of tyres and Bridgestone BT45 are one of the best choices for the ZED range.
Modern sports bikes can be very sensitive to mis-matched tyres but the older bikes generally aren't so affected but matched pairs are always the best.

Are Bridgestone B45s too modern looking a tyre for a standard Zed? or is that being too fussy? what is the general choice,heard them mentioned a lot on here?

should I be looking for front tyre with similar tread pattern as the rear?

It was said that the front tyre should be off the ribbed pattern ,As originaly fitted, but in modern rubber compounds, but i have use various types/makes , i think a lot is down to personal feel etc, though i did read somewhere that the bike was less prone to weave at speed with a ribbed type. I would tend to go along with the most popular tyres used by people on here.
