Here we go.

does anyone have a parts diagram for the carbs on a 1978 Z1R (D1)

I have pictures in the Clymer manual and Zpower book but i think these are generic

Its just that the needles can move up and down a few mil when mounted in the slides and i am not sure if this correct or not

The plate that screws down onto the slide has a sort of dome above the top of needle which i can see why this is, but this allows the needle to move up and down as well, unless i put a small washer on top of the needle "E" clip i cant stop this happeing, but in none of the pictures of carbs i have does it show any such arrangement.

So can some one put me straight on this one

There's no washer in the carb schematic on the Kawasaki parts fiche. However, the method you describe is common on later carbs such as the Mikuni 34mm BS34 Carburetors fitted to the later Z1000 LTDs. If it works why not go with it?

Ok thats fair enough thanks.

I was wondering if it was the Keyster needles supplied in the kit that did it, but i checked with my original needles and they do it.

So thanks again for that
