slow running problem & fuel valves

Hi All First, does anyone no if you can get the rubber end tipped fuel shut of valves for my 26mm carbs on my z1b.
Second,The bike has a slight problem, when running on a very small throttle opening E G crusing in a 30 limit, the bike seems to hunt (forward & backwards slightly,i think it is a problem with the carbs which i have had ultra clened.i would be greatful for any ideas

By shut-off valves, do you mean the float valves? My bike came shod with float valves with rubber based seat and they pissed petrol like it wasn't a fiver a gallon :cry:

I replaced them with pattern jobs that had metal seats, like the originals, and they are fine.

Have you balanced the carbs with vacuum guages since the rebuild? The best vacuum gauges are the manometer type (best are mercury filled, but these are rarely available now thanks to Mr Nanny State- Vote Jeremy C!). The bourdon gauge type (dials) are often not very accurate. I like to get all four within 10mm of mercury.

I trust you're running decent plugs - Denso not the evil NGKs which are so shite now! If you're not running Denso's get some from www.spark-plugs.co.uk though they have had a bit of a run on Zed plugs lately and completely ran out of Denso's - It seem the Z1OC may have been responsible! Soooo many bike have been cured of shit running and starting in this club by fitting propa plugz! How much for these wonder plugz - £1.15 each!

If you mean the float shut off valves,these should be available in a service kit from NRP at www.nrp-carbs.com 01618328646.
Sounds like your bike is hunting a little,check the air screw settings for the pilot jets and adjust along with the tickover to get smoother running at low speed,i,d check carb balance also.

I would concur
definately mixture causing this. Try winding in a quater of a turn the mixture screws that are fitted at the front of the float chambers accessed from underneath. Thats crap for an explanation of where the bloody things are but I'm sure you know where I mean. Anyway, this will weaken the mix a tad. Worth a try.

Could you E Mail me the DENSO spark plug equivelent number to replace my NGK B8 ES as i have e mailed the company you suggested for the number but they have not got back to me
