Cylinder head
I am trying to strip down the engine on my 1000a project, I am having trouble getting the head off, it seems to be fast around the front middle two studs, it does seem pretty gunked up, have soaked it in easing oil to see if that move it, any suggestions if that wont work, other than slinging it in the river.

if you look at this cylinder it shows you where the pry points are at the front of each cylinder. i use an old wood chisel with the sharp edge removed as its tapered the more you tap it in the the more pressure is applied

Don't use heat. it wont help.
Rubber mallet applied fore and aft of the head on the plain casting bulges for the cam sprockets and rock the head whilst pulling up.
Threads of the studs usually get grabbed by the gunked up head nut washers, especially the distorted copper ones if not already removed.

Done it, what a struggle, I had to remove the last two washers, which were not copper, had to put a small drill indent in them and then tap with a punch until they came free, almost welded to the studs, then just levered and rocked back and forth till it let go, the studs were full of crud, almost forming a wedge trying to lift the head. Barrels off as well, much easier, notice piston 1 the rings are solid, looks like very fine dust locking them in, every thing else looks okay. Thanks for the heads up
