#1 PostAuthor: gordon62 » Tue Jan 17, 2017 7:32 pm

Hi all,
I was wondering what you guys do about the rear wheel rim locks, which there are 2, do you always refit them or is it ok to leave them out??

Mine are still on the Z1R.

The guy who does my tyres has remarked they can be a bit of a faff to fit!

Never ran them without so cannot comment on suitability.

Cheers

Gordon, the modern tyre does not require these "rim-locks". The trouble is you have to do something about filling the hole and stop the rim tape and tube wanting to bulge through the rim hole.
I've usually made up dummy bolts & nuts to to fill the hole, ensuring I have smoothed the inside of the bolt so that the tube isn't pinched.

Tyre locks were only to ensure the stunning amount of horsepower didn't spin the tyre on the rim....

I always fit them back in, just coz it's cool
And on the 7th day... Zeds were created!
