Hi, I am sure that in my reading of many posts, I came across someone suggesting that Unitrak front calipers were a good upgrade for a Z1000J.
Is this correct or have I misread something?
I have tried to search for this - but no joy?

Hi,
Yes, in my expirence it is well worth doing and gives quite a good improvement in braking for not too much outlay. Looks quite 'factory' too.
As you will have deduced from that thread you will need to make up and weld on 10 mm spacers, and if you are mixing and matching bits the fork leg hole position and the disc diameter must correspond.
The actual caliper is the same across 550, 750 and 1100 uni's, so try looking for '550' ones as they'll probably be cheaper than the exact same part off an 1100.

Hi Olly thanks for the reply and information.
I had found some 1100 Unitrak calipers on fleabay for not a lot - so got them.
Now as you say I need to start looking at the spacers etc.
I believe that the fork legs are original - but will need to have a look at them and measure the disk diameter as well to see what I actually have!
