Which threadlockers?

#1 PostAuthor: Cajones13 » Sun Dec 18, 2016 1:11 am

With my upcoming rebuild I'm wondering which loctite products I'll need and where. I have some 263 stud lock but which others should I have on hand? :?:

Probably loctite 243 and 222 threadlocker only. Loctite recommends 222 for m5 and under, 243 for over.

In a factory that I'm familiar with they spec 222 for aluminium and helicoils and 243 for everything else, but i suspect that is erroneous.

If you feel the need to loctite the very long m6 bolts that hold the clutch case on (or similar applications) i'd use 222 as they can get a twist on and snap quite easily.

Don't use 648 bearing retainer for fasterners as they'll never come out again without a lot of heat. You can use it to glue front sprockets onto knackered output shat splines if you are desparate enough. Dont ask me how i know that.
