uk master cylinder

Does the plastic bit of the uk Z1 master cylinder come out, sending it to get anodized. Cant see anything holing it in but will it hell as shift.

They sure do but can be a bitch to remove. You need one of those leather ratchet straps so as not to damage the plastic. It is a standard RH thread just in case you're wondering.
Make sure you don't lose the very thin rubber washer/ seal.

There is a plastic base in the bottom. Use a right angled pick to pull upwards through one of the spaces and it will come out.




Under that are 2 screws which when undone will allow the plastic tube to be pulled out.




When you are ready for a new o ring let me know as I can supply you one foc

Don't think that's a Z1 master cylinder TLC, there is no screws holding the plastic part to the metal master cylinder and the plastic part on mine has no bottom (like a polo mint). Cheers

Z1 models have a screw in plastic piece.
Not seen TLC's so can only assume that is for Z900 Z1000 maybe?

Can anyone recommend a set of long nose circlip pliers that will remove the piston circlip, something that is right length and small enough to get in. Cheers

Got so excited I didn't see it was the inferior Z1 model.

Any advice on the removal of the piston, do you have to de-press the piston to get at the circlip?

you have a spring clip which secures the rubber gaiter which can be removed with a small electrical screwdriver then you have the cir clip which secures the piston & there is no need to depress the piston

Did just this today, needed a long thing circlip remover, and yes I had to depress the plunger to get the remover arms in, but did it. Bitch of a job
