Having some bother getting me carbs balanced with the screw adjusters on the top of carbs, readings don't seem to want to drop, despite turning them all in or all out? Engine getting too hot? Everything else is spot on. :(

No change! :?? Can't get tickover down below 2200/2300 rpm? So consequently can't balance carbs? It was ok, then it got hot from ticking over, switched off for a bit, then this started? Can't see any air leaks, got enough juice, be something obvious, but I'm stumped! :(

A carb slide 'hung up', needle clip come off or main/needle jet fallen out ?

I'd remove the airbox/carb rubbers, check the slides are seating and if that doesn't show anything obvious block off the inlet of each carb to see which one is causing the engine to race.

Might point you in the right direction.

Was thinking the same myself.Balanced some on a cb750 had to keep lowering the tickover.

Tickover screw isn't touching the quadrant at all, if it screws in rpm goes daft!

Sounds like the slides are too high to me and not allowing for adjustment in the right direction, may i suggest carb removal and setting the slides up on the bench, but make sure when you do that the adjuster screws are halfway through their travel parameters, had this myself once and it took ages to fathom out, such a simple thing can leave us scratching our heads at times.

You need to do the Bench "static 0.7mm Slide set up procedure"..... as your slides have now been taken now out of there balance range capability.
