GPz1100 Odometer

#1 PostAuthor: MikeP » Fri Mar 04, 2016 2:41 pm

Just bought a GPz1100B1 from Italy and as usual it's in KMH.

The speedo can be converted with a new overlay to show MPH, and with odometer being separate, I've bought a secondhand odometer with Miles to suit.

My question is: how do I adjust the odometer to show the corrected Miles as a conversion from Kilometers? Any ideas?

Put a drill with reverse action and a piece of old speedo cable. Calculation is Kilometres divided by 8 multiplied by 5 equals miles.
May take a while.....

Unfortunately this one is electronic and will only go forward with the correct waveform as an input.
The case is also very well sealed and it takes a great deal of patience to breakin without damaging it

At one time u could get converters to put in line with the drive to convert kmh to mph so clock would read correctly!

This system isn't too clever, it takes a square wave and uses a an RF (radio frequency) chip to produce a dc voltage which then drives a small motor to turn the numbers.

Yeah, this isn't like the usual speedo drive from the front wheel, as Taffus says, and I may need to practice with the dremel on the old KMH odometer.

The GPz has only done 18500 kilometres so will be a good selling point if I decide to sell.
